A Sub-Riemannian Model of Visual Perception
ABSTRACT: I’ll present a model of the visual cortex introduced by Citti and Sarti. It is well known that the visual cortex has a modular structure and that different family of cells process in sequence the visual signal, extracting different features. We will model different families of cells with different Lie groups, with subriemannian metrics. As a result we will introduce a functional, invariant with respect to the group law, who face the problem of modal completion. The model is applied in particular to classical Kanitza images.
