TITLE: Hypothesis testing and p-value

ABSTRACT:

Hypothesis testing is one of the most fundamental topics in statistics. In this talk, I will discuss hypothesis testing in the following aspects:

i) Formulating and testing hypothesis in general, along with important concepts including Type I and Type II errors, p-values, etc.

ii) Two approaches to implementing hypothesis testing: critical value approach and p-value approach.

iii) An illustrated example: one-sample t-test.

Pizza and Soda will be served at the talk
