RET Poster Session: WPI Research Experiences for Teaching Integrated STEM: Engineering for People and the Planet

Monday, August 15, 2022
10:30 am to 11:30 am

Location:

Floor/Room #:
Great Hall

Come see the outcomes of the Research Experiences for Teachers (RET):  Engineering for People and the Planet.

Join the culmination of 6 weeks of research by 5 middle/high school teachers and 5 WPI undergraduate, pre-service teachers working in 5 WPI faculty research labs.  Learn about their projects on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and see how the teachers plan to bring their research experiences into the classroom!

Enjoy light breakfast refreshments, and talk with the 10 teachers plus the WPI faculty, staff, and students that made this RET possible.  Register by Aug. 10 to ensure we have enough refreshments, have a printed nametag, and to receive a dashboard parking pass by email.  However, walk-ins are most welcome!

An industry panel will also be held from 9-10:15 in the Higgins House Library for teachers to learn about:
-  What several companies do,
-  How STEM is important in the “real world,”
-  What skills these companies look for in their employees, etc.

COVID Guidelines:
-  WPI expects everyone attending an indoor event to be vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event.  Masks are welcome but not required on campus.  WPI encourages everyone to respect the choices that individuals make about their own masking.
-  WPI also expects that guests will not come to campus with symptoms or having recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Directions and Parking:
Free parking will be available in the WPI parking garage located at 151 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA.  For the shortest walk, enter the garage through the first entrance you come to, and park near that entrance or just to the right.  A dashboard parking pass will be emailed to registered attendees beforehand to print and bring to prevent being ticketed.  We recommend giving yourself 10 minutes to park and walk to Higgins House.  The parking garage and Higgins House (#15) are both shown near the top center of this campus map.
