Workshop Name: Personal Branding: “The Art of You"

Workshop Facilitator:

  • Rob Sarnie - Professor of Practice, Foisie Business School, WPI FinTech Collaborative & Wall Street-FinTech Project Center – MQP

Workshop Description:
Who are you?
What makes you unique?
What makes you a superman/superwoman?
In this workshop you will learn how to analyze your strengths, ask your co-workers how they view you and create a "personal brand", that is unique. If you know your skills, capabilities and competencies and most importantly, the core values that shape you, you can define yourself, you can unlock “the art of you”.

Why is it important to create a "personal brand?"

It's important to promote your brand during all interactions and encounters whether in person or via email or on social media. The 4 key aspects of your brand are your look, how you sound, how you act, and what you believe. "Your brand is your reputation over time."

Time: 5:00pm

Workshop Name: Design Thinking

Workshop Facilitator:

  • Joe Doiron - Assistant Teaching Professor, Interdisciplinary & Global Studies, Director, United Arab Emirates Project Center, Co-Director, Namibia Project Center, Co-Director, Foisie Sandbox, Co-Director, Center for Global Public Safety (CGPS)

Workshop Description:

Design Thinking stresses the importance of cultivating empathy for end users, interpreting and framing problems they experience, creative solution generation, and continuous prototyping and testing. Embedded within Design Thinking is the assumption that we must think “outside ourselves.” Great design doesn’t happen within the four walls of a studio or office. It happens in the real world.

Why is it important?

In increasingly complex times, innovation and collaboration skills are becoming vital to businesses, and both principles are essential in Design Thinking. This hands-on workshop will lead you through the design thinking process and will explore how human-centered design can help develop innovative solutions for the complex challenges we face as businesspeople, non-profit leaders, entrepreneurs, and global citizens.
