Technology Trends in Cellular Communications: Thinking Beyond the Smart Phone.
This presentation will look at the history of cellular standards and outline key technical aspects relevant to rapid growth. Recent explosion of smart phone devices and the variety of services offered by the wireless operators now require continuous innovation. Some technology trends will be outlined, primarily radio-access and the system-on-the-chip design.

About the Speaker:
Zoran Zvonar is a Senior Director, MediaTek US and MediaTek Fellow. B.S./M.S. from University of Belgrade, Serbia, and Ph.D. Northeastern University, Boston. From 1994 to 2008 he was with Analog Devices, a member of their core development team for baseband platform and direct conversion transceiver wireless product families. He was the recipient of the company’s highest technical honor, an ADI Fellow. Zvonar’s focus is on the design of algorithms and architectures for cellular standards, with applications to integrated chip-set solutions. He was elected IEEE Fellow in 2010.
