Experts on energy storage

Energy storage devices hold in reserve electricity or other types of energy for future use. Batteries, including the lithium-ion batteries that power electronics and electric vehicles, are the most familiar and commonly used energy storage devices. Energy storage, including battery storage units or pumped hydro installations, will play an ever increasingly important role in the management of electric power grids. They will be used to store power generated by intermittent renewable energy sources like solar energy and wind energy until it is needed to meet demand. WPI experts on energy storage can talk about the development and recycling of lithium-ion batteries, the management of power grids, and the development of novel solar energy materials.
