At the forefront of robotics engineering advances

WPI is at the forefront of robotics engineering, with cutting-edge research in human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence, medical robotics, and kinematics and control systems. WPI’s Atlas robot advanced to the finals in the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge, and the university has been given awards for projects to provide personal assistant robots to the elderly, and to test a new robotics technology for treatment of brain tumors. Training the next generation of cybersecurity experts

WPI was recognized as a National Security Administration/Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Research, and is using a National Science Foundation award to prepare professionals to address cybersecurity challenges and threats for the federal government. Across the life sciences at WPI, faculty and graduate students are working to advance the understanding of living organisms and to translate discoveries into new therapies, devices, and products that will help prevent and cure disease, address environmental challenges, improve the effectiveness of health care, and elevate the human condition. Interactive Media and Game Development

Named one of the best video game colleges for 2015

WPI is home to one of the earliest and top-ranked academic programs in the Interactive Media and Game Development field. Faculty members have written books on game design, designed influential video games and delivered addresses at developers’ conferences.
