• The annual Open Enrollment period for group medical and dental plans, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, pre-paid legal and vision plans will end Oct. 31, 2015. Elections will be effective Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016.

Please note that all Enrollment Forms must be completed and returned to the office of Human Resources by Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.

This year for health insurance there is an across the board increase of 2.75 percent.

Health Insurance:

  • Plan Year Jan, 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016: Coverage will remain with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. If you are enrolling for the first time or making a change, you will need to complete a new enrollment form.
  • There is a premium increase of 2.75 percent.
  • There are no plan design changes.
  • If you are not changing your health plan, you do not need to re-elect. Your coverage will continue as is.

Dental Insurance:

  • Plan Year Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016: Coverage will remain with Altus Dental.  If you are enrolling for the first time or making a change, you will need to complete a new enrollment form.
  • There is a premium increase of approximately 7 percent.
  • There are no plan design changes.
  • If you are not changing your dental plan, you do not need to re-elect. Your coverage will continue as is.

Flexible Spending Accounts & Health Savings Accounts:

  • Plan Year Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016: Coverage will remain with Benefit Strategies.  For medical FSA and limited purpose FSA, the maximum amount for withholding will be $2,500. Dependent care will be a maximum of $5,000.  For Health Savings Accounts the maximum (less WPI’s contribution) is $2,850 for an individual and $5,750 for a family.  All previous enrollments will end on Dec. 31, 2015.  Re-enrollment is required to elect or renew.
  • WPI’s contribution to the Health Savings Accounts will remain the same, $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a family. If you are eligible for the HSA and you are not electing to contribute money to it but would still like WPI’s contribution, you must complete an enrollment form to designate this.  If you are not making contributions to an HSA WPI’s contribution will not be deposited unless elected on the enrollment form.
  • You cannot elect a Medical FSA if you are opening an HSA; you can only elect a Limited Purpose FSA. You can elect a Dependent Care Account and an HSA.

Pre-paid Legal:

  • Plan Year January 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016: All current enrollments end Dec. 31, 2015. Re-enrollment is required to elect or renew. If you are electing or renewing please indicate on the universal enrollment form.
  • The new rate for the legal plan will be $21.75 per month.

Vision Plan:

  • Plan Year Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2016: All current enrollments end Dec. 31, 2015. Re-enrollment is required to elect or renew. If you are electing or renewing please indicate on the universal enrollment form.

WPI Open Enrollment Form – This year all elections are on one form.  If you are not making a change to health or dental you can select the box that says, ‘I would like to keep my coverage the same.’  If you would like to add or re-enroll in voluntary plans such as medical and dependent care flexible spending, the health savings account, vision or legal you will need to complete those sections of this form.

IMPORTANT: Please complete the fillable pdf forms online, print, sign and return to HR. All forms are available on the HR website; no paper copies will be distributed.

Changes for medical and dental elections will become effective Jan. 1, 2016 with the payroll deductions in the December payroll. Please visit bannerweb.wpi.edu to look at your current benefits or print a benefit summary.

Hyatt Legal Plan – Information on this post-tax benefit.  Employees interested in renewing or signing up for this benefit must elect the level of coverage on the universal form.

Please note, in 2007 the state of Massachusetts enacted a Health Care Reform Law that requires residents of the state to have health care coverage.
