SUMMARY:Department of Mathematical Sciences Applied Math Lecture: Yuehui Xu
 , WPI
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\nFriday, June 12th, 2026\n11:00am –
 11:50am\nHiggins Labs 114\n\nSpeaker:Yuehui Xu, WPI\nTitle:A Mathematical
Framework for Biomechanics in a 3D Cell Migrating on a Flat Substrate\nAbs
tract: Cell migration is essential in wound healing, immune response, and
cancer metastasis. This work presents a 3D computational model of migratin
g cells that incorporates viscoelastic mechanics, protrusion, focal adhesi
on dynamics, and intracellular interactions. Simulations reproduce realist
ic migration behavior and force patterns, while sensitivity analyses ident
ify key mechanical drivers. The framework is extended to include nuclear m
echanics under confinement, providing insight into deformation and force g
 eneration during confined migration.\n
