on Hall 201\nSpeaker: Francisco Ponce Carrion, WPI\nTitle: Finding input-o
utput equations for linear compartmental models with prescribed orders\nAb
stract: Linear compartmental models are linear systems of ODEs that are de
termined by a graphical structure G. A common question that arises when pe
rforming parameter estimation is whether the parameters in our model can b
e recovered uniquely from perfect input-output data (i.e. data from variab
les we can measure). One way to assess this is by studying the coefficient
s of input-output equations, which are obtained via differential eliminati
on. In this talk, we discuss a linear algebra-based algorithm that allows
us to compute "nice" sets of input-output equations that have prescribed o
rders for the derivatives that appear in the equations.\n
