SUMMARY:Architectural Engineering Lecture Series - Rion Crear \& Isaiah Gri
 gos
DESCRIPTION:Optimizing Enclosures: Real-World High-Performance Assemblies\n
This session reviews design considerations for high-performance building e
nclosures, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of various assemblies a
nd construction methods. Members of the BEC team will also demonstrate a v
ariety of tools used to assess operating energy and embodied carbon impact
s of various enclosure types. Attendees will gain a practical understandin
g of real world assemblies and the criteria driving their selection.\nRion
Crear | Building Performance Consultant | Rion is a recent graduate from
Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Durin
g his time at WPI, he completed numerous projects in a range of topics inc
luding HVAC, audio equipment, and the digital preservation of archeologica
l artifacts. Rion applies his varied engineering background and intern exp
erience in construction management to problem solving in the built environ
ment.\nIsaiah Grigos, CEM, CPHC®, BEMP, PHIUS+ VERIFIER | Senior Building
Scientist | Isaiah has over a decade of engineering experience, with the m
ajority of that focused on building science and energy efficiency. He has
performed audits and assessments on buildings of all types including singl
e family homes, multi-family high rises, medical facilities and commercial
spaces. Isaiah applies his engineering and his on-site experience to iden
tifyperformance, efficiency, sustainability and durability opportunities f
or building enclosuresand mechanical systems. His understanding of availab
le technology and proven methodsallows him to present cost effective solut
ions for building owners and tenants.\n
