DESCRIPTION:Rethinking Bioclimatic Architecture: Re-Connecting People, Buil
 dings, Climates, and Locales\nBioclimatic Design is grounded in the classi
 c, mid-20th century practices that emphasize the “passive” properties of t
 he building envelope, of the ability of the walls, windows, and thermal ma
 ss of the building to modulate the interior climate. By rethinking those p
 ractices, we extend those practices by adapting smarter technologies, whic
 h leverage more environmental resources to make buildings comfortable, hea
 lthy, and energy efficient.\nWilliam W. Braham, PhD, FAIA is the Andrew Go
 rdon Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania where he 
 is Director of the programs in Environmental Building Design and of the Ce
 nter for Environmental Building + Design. He has worked on energy and arch
 itecture for over 40 years as a designer, consultant, researcher, and auth
 or of numerous articles and books.\nHis latest book is Architecture and Sy
 stems Ecology: Thermodynamic Principles for Environmental Building Design,
  in three parts (2015) and he also co-edited Energy Accounts: Architectura
 l Representations of Energy, Climate, and the Future (2016). His most rece
 nt projects include carbon plans for City of Philadelphia and TheUniversit
 y of Pennsylvania Health System and building performance modelling forDaik
 in Open Innovation Lab, Silicon Valley.\n
