DESCRIPTION:Title:\nCurrent Frontiers and Challenges in Fault Injection Att
 acks\nAbstract:\nSince the late 1990s fault injection attacks (FIA) has es
 tablished itself as one of the most critical physical threat vectors again
 st cryptographic implementations. While the basic theory behind FA is well
 -understood, modern System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures and complex hardwar
 e-software stacks present unprecedented challenges for system designers an
 d evaluators.\nThis seminar talk provides an overview of the landscape of 
 fault injection attacks, bridging the gap between the theoretical capturin
 g of fault events and its real-world execution. We will explore how physic
 al perturbation techniques - such as clock/voltage glitching, EMFI, and la
 ser fault injection - are modeled, executed, and integrated into early-sta
 ge security evaluation workflows. Finally, we discuss persistent open prob
 lems in securing next-generation complex systems against advanced injectio

 :\nTim Güneysu is a professor and head of the Chair for Security Engineeri
 ng at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, and co-speaker of the Horst-Görtz 
 Institute for IT Security. He is also affiliated with the Cyber-Physical S
 ystems (CPS) division of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelli
 gence (DFKI) in Bremen. In addition, he serves as a principal investigator
  of CASA – Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries, the only 
 Cluster of Excellence in Germany dedicated to IT security.\nHis research i
 nterests cover the secure design and low-level engineering of computing sy
 stems, with a particular focus on advanced and quantum-resistant cryptogra
 phic implementations, processor and microarchitectural security, and hardw
 are-based system protection. He has co-authored more than 190 peer-reviewe
 d publications in leading international journals and conferences on applie
