Community Event: Using Microresistance to Combat Microaggressions with Lisa
  Maddox
This interactive workshop is designed to discuss a humanistic approach to navigating microaggressions by introducing the Microaggressions Triangle Model. This model is a framework for understanding and addressing microaggressions by dissecting microaggressions from various viewpoints:
  the source, the recipient and the bystander. This model utilizes restorat
 ive justice practices to help individuals learn skills in addressing micro
 aggressions and to create opportunities to repair the harm and trauma caus
 ed by acts of microaggressions.\nBio: Lisa Maddox is the Director of Busin
 ess Development and Community Outreach at the Multicultural Wellness Cente
 r (MWC). She joined MWC in August 2019. She comes to MWC with 16 years of 
 working experience in the Worcester Public Schools as a School Adjustment 
 and Guidance Counselor, Community Liaison, and Social Emotional Learning d
 istrict trainer. Lisa has a B.S. in Urban Studies (concentration: Health a
 nd Human Services), an M.A. in Social Rehabilitation and Counseling, and a
  C.A.G.S. in Special Education from Assumption (College) University. In ad
 dition, Lisa coordinates and facilitates a black-identity, social-emotiona
 l youth development group for BIPOC youth between the ages of 13-17 utiliz
 ing culture as a protective factor. She has facilitated various trainings 
 for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regarding the following 
 topics: Healing in the Discomfort of Racial Trauma, Identity-based Biases,
  Trauma and Healing, and Using Micro-resistance to Combat Microaggressions
