DESCRIPTION: Dear Colleagues and Students, On behalf of the WPI Data Science program, we invite you to celebrate the achievements of our undergraduate summer researchers at the 2023 WPI Summer Research Showcase on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, from 2:00PM-4:00PM in the Innovation Studio. This showcase will highlight student summer work/research in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Research and several REU sites. Refreshments and treats will be provided throughout the duration of the event. This year, faculty from Computer Science, Data Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil, Environmental, & Architectural Engineering, and The Business School served as Data Science REU Project Advisors for their 2023 Summer Site. In addition, several PhD students served as mentors. Please give a special thank you to REU Project Advisors Prof. Elke Rundensteiner, Prof. Sichao Liu, Prof. Fabricio Murai, Prof. Andrew Teixeira, Prof. Andy Trapp, Prof. Sarah Stanlick, and Prof. Renata Konrad. In addition, we would also like to thank the Ph.D. Mentors including Ricardo Flores, Avantika Shrestha, Xingtong Guo, David Kenney, Geri Dimas, Ph.D., Shannon Song, Chiman Salavatii, Fatemeh Farajzadeh, Elise Deshusses, and Weixiao Huang. This program has been a success and it is not without the tremendous efforts of the advisors and mentors who have spent countless hours supporting and guiding our students through research over the past 10 weeks. We cannot thank them enough for their commitment to this program. This year, 11 students participated in our REU site from across the country with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Students joined us from WPI, Drake University, National Louis University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Arizona, and Bryant University.
