Jonathan Attard is from Walnut Creek California. He became interested in chemistry as early as high school. He graduated from Whittier College in Whittier California with a double major in chemistry and physics. He worked in the wine industry, the food flavor industry, and the pharmaceutical industry for a total of 6 years before starting his PhD program at WPI in Organic Chemistry. His PhD research focuses on synthetic method development for enantioselective chromone functionalization. The purpose of this is to build novel medicinal chromanone libraries for further study.
