Seth's research has focused on finding ways to improve student learning and to assist low-achieving students benefit from interventions that improve their achievement, particularly in mathematics. He is currently researching computational and probabilistic methods that infer accurate representations of student knowledge and prerequisite skill structures (PSS) from students' performance data. Most of his research data is collected using PLACEments, a PSS based adaptive testing system he created.
