Shari Worthington‘s interest in behavioral economics and decision science began with her undergrad work in biological psychology. She spent long hours in the research lab looking into how the brain works. After graduation, she began a career in high tech product management and marketing. Her specialty is marketing complex applications of computers in scientific research, engineering, and manufacturing. She became an accidental entrepreneur 20+ years ago when she founded Telesian Technology, a tech marketing consulting firm, and several other ventures.  Her marketing work splits between small tech ventures and Fortune 500 companies, such as Raytheon, Fluke, Apple, and Honeywell.

Shari has been teaching at WPI for seven years. At the graduate level she teaches MKT565 Digital Marketing, ETR500 Entrepreneurship, and MKT500 Marketing Management. At the undergrad level she teaches ETR3633 Entrepreneurial Selling, ETR3651 Industrial (B2B) Marketing, and ETR3910 Recognizing and Evaluating New Venture Opportunities.

Her research interest is decision-making by the technology entrepreneur in the context of economic and cognitive constraints. The goal is to foster a clearer path to the creation of successful tech ventures. She’s currently researching heuristics and motivation in entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial decision-making, and individual and group learning in startup vs. corporate environments.
