I have been teaching CE501 - Professional Practice annually during the Spring semester since 2012. The objectives of this course are to provide students with learning exposure to non-technical issues and matters pertaining to performing as a practicing professional engineer as well as exposure to forming, leading and managing a privately-owned professional engineering firm. Although this is a Civil and Environmental Engineering Department course, much of the course content is applicable to practicing engineers in other disciplines (e.g., mechanical and electrical). My goal is to help course participants make the transition from technical professional to practicing professional.

Bruce is the Managing Director of Beverly Management Consulting, LLC which was formed in September 2010 to assist leaders and managers of Architectural/Engineering/ Consulting (A/E/C) firms with strategic planning, leadership and management issues, operations management, project management, succession planning, and governance matters associated with running an A/E/C business.

He is currently serving as an external member of the Board of Directors of an Ohio- headquartered, employee-owned, engineering and construction materials testing firm.

Prior to forming Beverly Management Consulting, LLC, Bruce spent his prior professional career entirely with Haley & Aldrich, Inc., a national geotechnical and environmental engineering consulting firm, spanning over 34 years, holding numerous project and operational management positions from entry level geotechnical engineer through President, CEO and Chair of its Board of Directors.

He is a registered professional civil engineer in Massachusetts and a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Bruce is a Life Member of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section of ASCE and a Life Member of ASCE.

Bruce has served as a member of the WPI Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board since 1998. He received the WPI Herbert F. Taylor Alumni Award for Distinguished Service in 2013

Outside interests include world travel, motorcycle touring and sports cars.
