SFC Erick E. Mejia
Sergeant First Class Erick E. Mejia is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman on November 7th, 2002. He received his Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, GA and has served in every leadership position from Fire Team Leader to Platoon Sergeant.
His assignments include 1-9 Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Republic of Korea; 1-8 Infantry Regiment, Fort Carson, Co; Drill Sergeant, Bravo Company 1-61 Infantry Regiment, Fort Jackson, SC; Weapons Squad Leader, Bravo Company 2-5 Infantry Regiment, Fort Bliss, TX; and Platoon Sergeant, Charlie Company 1-37 Armored Regiment, Bliss, TX. He currently serves as Operations NCO for WPI, 2nd BDE USACC. SFC Mejia deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005-2006 and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2011-2012 and 2014.
SFC Mejia’s military education includes the Warrior Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course, the United States Army Drill Sergeant School, the Combat Lifesaver’s course, Modern Army Combative levels 1, 2 and 3, the Sexual Harassment Assault Response Program and Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course. His civilian education includes an Associates Degree in General Studies from American Military University.
SFC Mejia’s awards and decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4 Oak Leaf Clusters) Army Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 3), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), and the NATO Medal (ISAF Clasp), the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge.
