Ask Professor Frank Dick, "What is teaching?" and he will tell you: "Teaching is show time! People love a good show. Make the show entertaining from start to finish, and students will remember what you say and do forever. They will remember when they got to throw a beach ball around the classroom while you told them 'mechanics is everything the ball is doing and everything you are doing to the ball.' Years later, they will toss a ball, watch it fly and spin, and they will say to themselves 'the force and torque of my hand on the ball caused the ball to undergo linear and angular acceleration, to acquire linear and angular velocities, to undergo linear and angular displacements, in short to move and spin. That is mechanics.'"
