Katie Elmes has spent her career working to address inequity in education. She joined WPI in 2012, bringing with her a background that included teaching in Mississippi, working with one of Worcester's federally funded Upward Bound programs helping high school youth prepare for and apply to college, and engaging in educational policy and politics. At WPI, Katie's work in the STEM Education Center has included directing WPI's Undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program. She is thrilled to bring together her passion for educational access and equity into the work the STEM Education Center does with educators and educational communities to ensure all students are engaged in meaningful STEM experiences. Katie believes that her work is best done in community with others and welcomes collaborations with the community.
