Location and Culture:
MITRE provides a wide range of project opportunities for WPI students. All MITRE projects are conducted at the Mitre-Bedford center in Bedford, MA, a historic town northeast of WPI. MITRE is a nonprofit organization chartered to work on federally funded research projects for government agencies such as the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Housing and Meals:
Students will commute from WPI to Bedford by bus. WPI provides daily transportation from campus to Bedford for students.

Past Projects:
Past students at the Bedford, Massachusetts Project Center have:

  • Analyzed the effect of wind turbines on radar
  • Studied the design, computational modeling, and practical realization of small antenna systems
  • Focused on improving the understanding and prevention of cyberattacks
