Location and Culture

Beijing, the capital of P.R. China, is a modern, industrialized metropolitan with rich cultural heritage and easy access to other major cities by train or airplane. The Beijing project center offers real-world project experiences for students to simultaneously practice their technical skills, apply their innovative ideas, develop their interpersonal abilities, and cultivate their entrepreneurial spirit in a global and innovative world. 

Past Projects

Past MQP students at the Beijing project center have:

  • Developed an infrared drying unit to increase energy efficiency in the production of aluminum cans
  • Designed a robotic arm to sort, stack and move scrap metal for recycling
  • Devised a smart kitchen fire alarming device

Past IQP students at the Beijing project center have:

  • Helped EMC China to come up with strategies to ensure a successful merge with Dell
  • Studied smart fire fighting technologies and recommended adaption and development plans
  • Benchmarked the Flipped Classroom technologies in the US and China and made recommendations to a Chinese University
