Location and Culture:

Once a booming whaling center, now primarily a summer resort and tourist destination, Nantucket has a population of 10,000 year-round residents and attracts an additional 40,000 tourists each summer. The island is a National Historic District, and offers excellent museums, public beaches, and protected conservation land. Temperatures range from 40°F to 60°F by the end of the term.

Housing and Meals:

WPI students will stay in cottage-style houses on the island that are within walking distance or a short bike ride from many amenities and their sponsors. Accommodation type and location are subject to change without notice and will be confirmed the term prior to departure.

Meals are generally prepared in a communal kitchen at the students’ housing, or available at local restaurants. Students should inform their advisor of any health concerns, dietary restrictions, or allergies in advance of participation in this program.
