Welcome to Biology & Biotechnology

Life scientists today are seeking answers to a host of compelling and vital questions, from how to prevent life-threatening diseases to how to solve the Earth's environmental problems. This diversity of challenges is reflected in WPI's Department of Biology and Biotechnology, where faculty and students are pursuing exciting research in such areas as bioinformatics, bioprocess engineering, gene expression, developmental cell biology, tissue regeneration, plant physiology, and population genetics and evolution. This commitment to cutting-edge knowledge is also evident in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs, leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS), the Master of Science (MS), and the doctor of philosophy (PhD) degrees.
