The Alonzis live in Austin, Texas, where Al is the Deputy Division Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration Texas Office. -December 01, 2006 Ken ComeyKen Comey ('90) and his wife Julie are proud to announce the birth of their first son, Joseph William, on July 13, 2006. They are currently living in Redondo Beach, CA. Ken recently accepted a position with BP America on the Environmental Compliance and Advocacy Team. -September 30, 2006 Patti Newcomer-SimmonsPatti and her husband Stan are proud to announce the birth of their son, Weldon Mason, on April 25, 2006. Weldon joins his big sister Megan, who turned 2 on May 8, 2006. Weldon was born just 2 months after Patti started a new job as the CMO of the Card Services business at Wachovia, and was just 2 months old when the family moved to Charlotte, NC. -September 24, 2006 Miklos Z. KissI recently completed a post-doctoral research associate position in the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I then moved to Cleveland, OH, to start as a research engineer at Volcano Corporation, on the campus of the Cleveland Clinic. I am conducting research on ultrasound catheters used in the detection and diagnosis of atherosclerosis. -July 19, 2006 Christina Coumou MacaulayChristina (Coumou) Macaulay and her husband Mark ('89)are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Caroline Rose on September 6, 2005. They are currently living in Northborough, MA along with their two sons Patrick (7 yrs) and Bennett (4 yrs). -March 31, 2006 Eric LindgrenEric Lindgren has accepted a new position in Honeywell as VP/CIO for their ECC division. Eric and his wife, Ellen, have relocated to Victoria, MN, along with their daughter, Noelle, and twin sons, Aidan and Brandon, who were born on July 12, 2005. -December 21, 2005 Robert MoralesBob Morales recently moved to ArgonST as Manager of Integration and Testing for naval systems. Argon develops C4ISR systems for DoD customers. He continues to live in Northern Virginia with his wife, Margaret, and daughters Grace, Marie and Elizabeth. -May 31, 2005 Jeffrey YoderJeff Yoder ('90), Nanette Nascone-Yoder and daughter, Hannah (who is now 3.5 years old), moved to North Carolina this past fall. Jeff and Nanette started new faculty positions at North Carolina State University where they will continue their research programs (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~jayoder/) and be involved in the teaching/training of graduate and veterinary students. Also, the Yoder-family welcomed a new baby girl, Ella Berit Yoder, into the family on January 25, 2005. Greg was recently promoted to principal fire protection engineer at the National Fire Protection Associtation where he co-edited the 2003 editions of the NFPA Building Construction and Safety Code Handbook and NFPA Life Safety Code Handbook. -July 23, 2004 Demetrios G. VenetisI am ecstatic, thrilled and overjoyed to announce the birth of our first child Sophia Irini Venetis. She was born on Thursday morning at 1:05 am, April 22, 2004. Her birth weight was 7 lbs. 6.2 oz. and she measured 20.5 inches. Both mom (Val) and baby are doing great, and dad is on an emotional high. -April 29, 2004 Miklos Z. KissSince leaving active duty with the Army in 1996, I had been pursuing a Ph.D. in physics at North Carolina State University. I graduated in December 2002. My thesis was entitled, "Application of diffraction enhanced imaging for obtaining improved contrast of calcifications in breast tissue." I recently arrived at the Department of Medical Physics, University of Wisconsin, where I am employed as a Research Associate. -May 22, 2003 Mary Helen (Adair) MacLeanMary Helen (Adair) MacLean ('90) and Michael MacLean announce the birth of their daughter Megan Leigh MacLean. She was born September 18, 2002, weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz, and was 21 inches long. -November 17, 2002 Ken ComeyKen Comey ('90 CM) was married to Julie Giuntoli of Bakersfield, Calif., on Jan. 2, 2002. Achille Alonzi ('90 CE) was the best man, and brothers Thomas Comey ('95 ME) and Michael Comey were groomsman. The couple currently resides in Bakersfield, Calif. -June 13, 2002 Achille AlonziAl Alonzi was married to Susan Welch of Augusta, Ga., on June 9,2001. His brother, Roland Alonzi, was the best man and Ken Comey ('90 CM) and Kevin Owen ('90 ME) were groomsmen. Al and Susan work in Washington, D.C. and live in Virginia. -June 13, 2002 Jeffrey Yoder, Ph.D.In August 2002 Jeff started his new position as Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of South Florida (Tampa). At USF he will continue his research program in immunogenetics and genomics utilizing the zebrafish as a model species and will teach courses in Genetics and Advanced Genomics. -September 12, 2002 Lars K. BeattieAfter completing residency at the NYU / Bellevue Hospital Center, Lars Beattie started work at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in the emergency department. He is mostly involved with the training of new emergency residents and currently spends his clinical time at the Level I Trauma Center, Elmhurst Hospital, NYC. -August 18, 2003 Patti Newcomer-SimmonsPatti Newcomer-Simmons and her husband, Stan Simmons (Univ South Carolina Chem Eng '86), are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, Margaret Kathleen (Megan), on May 8, 2004. Megan weighed 6 lb 15 oz, and was 20.75 inches long. -May 25, 2004 Ron SkoletskyRon Skoletsky '90, his wife, Marie Morel-Seytoux, and 3 year-old daughter, Freya, welcome Blaise Eddy Skoletsky to their family. Blaise was born on June 23, 2004. Freya welcomes Blaise as her new squeeze toy. -July 22, 2004 Brian WeissmanI have taken a position as a Senior Software QA Engineer at Cymer, Inc. in San Diego. USRobotics provides wireless and wired connectivity technology for the home or small business throughout the world. In September, Brian Gosselin '91 joined Gerry as COO. -September 24, 2007 Eric O'ConnorI haven't posted a note in many years, so I'll just give a recap of my current situation. I'm living in Portland, Oregon with my partner, Laura Taylor. We've been here sine August of 2005 and are enjoying it very much. We bought a great house here in July of 2006. I'm working as a Senior Software Developer for Adobe, based out of the San Francisco office. I work from home in Portland, and travel down to SF occassionally to work in the office. I work in the Mobile & Devices group, building client/server applications to deliver dynamic Flash content to handsets. In my spare time, I play in two rock bands. -February 27, 2007 Joel McCarrollMy wife, Andrea, and I had our second child. Ryan was born on January 15, 2007. I am still working as the Region Traffic Manager for ODOT's Region 4. -February 14, 2007 Michael MesserMike recently graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology with a Master of Operations Analysis degree. He was extended invitations to join the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and Omega Rho, honor society of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences. Rob and Alana reside in Seattle, WA where Rob is the Vice President of Marketing for Pure Networks. -August 21, 2003 Carl K. Crawford, P.E.Carl and Kim Crawford have had a busy year. The year started with moving into the new house they built on Kim's family farm in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. They then got a golden retriever puppy, and now Kim is pregnant with their first baby and is due in February, 2003. In February, 2002, Carl was named the "Vermont Young Engineer of the Year" by the engineering profession during Vermont Engineer's Week. Carl is one of the founding partners of Otter Creek Engineering in Middlebury, VT. The company just opened a satellite office in Rutland, VT and hired Mark Youngstrom, P.E. (WPI '75) to manage the office. -November 22, 2002 Bob BeliveauBob Beliveau is a Product Marketing Manager at Jetstream Communications, manufacturers of voice over broadband systems. Bob married Italian-born Deborah Armstrong on June 9, 2001, at St. Simon Catholic Church in Los Altos. The reception was held at the Los Altos Golf and Country Club, where Bob and Deborah own a home. Fellow Phi Sig's and WPI alumni Andrew Stern (EE 91), Christopher Manton (EE 90), Rick Drulard (MEB 91?) all attended. His big sister and brother (Carolyn and Griffin) like the addition. Mike is currently instructing students in advanced pilot training flying the T-38, a big change from the F-15E. Mike, Buffi and the kids are enjoying the hot north west Texas sun at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls after three years of rain in England. -June 06, 2003 Scott PlichtaScott Plichta was recently promoted to Vice President and co-CIO of Bentley Systems, Inc. Bentley provides engineering software for the life cycle of the world's infrastructure, most notably through its flagship product, Microstation. When not burning the midnight oil at work, Scott and his wife Sharon are spending time with their two-year-old twins and rearranging their house to make room for their third child, expected in December. -October 23, 2003 Nathan CrowellNate Crowell has joined the staff of Sherry Laboratories in Muncie, Ind., as a Metallurgical Engineer. He spent the past 10 years at Metal Casting Technology, Inc., a subsidiary jointly owned by Hitchiner Manufacturing Co., Inc. and General Motors. He previously worked for Raytheon Research Center and Varian Associates. Nate and his wife, Patti-Anne, have been married for nine years. I've also been elected Vice President of the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT. In 2006 I also had the honor of being selected as a member of the Hartford Business Journal 40 Under Forty class of 2006. -January 05, 2007 Teri Hamlin (Drake)Teri Hamlin (Drake) recently accepted a job with NASA as the Technical Lead of the Space Shuttle Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA). She has been living in Texas with her husband, Rick, and two children, Emily who is 7, and Stevie who is 6, for about 4 years. -December 05, 2006 Concetta DePaoloConcetta DePaolo '92 was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure by Indiana State University. She and her husband, David Rader, live in Terre Haute, Indiana, with their daughter, Megan. -May 30, 2006 David AndradeDavid Andrade, '92, and his wife, Cori, have just finished extensive training in EMS Special Operations, including Weapons of Mass Destruction and Tactical EMS. Both have been involved in EMS for over 17 years. David started his EMS career at WPI as one of the early members of WPI EMS. David is still a high school physics teacher, but serves part time in EMS. He is currently a Senior Paramedic and Lieutenant for Stratford EMS and is a member of their Special Operations team, which his wife is also a member of. He and Cori live in Stratford, Conn., with their two cats and ferret. -May 04, 2005 Jen SchaefferJen has returned to graduate school for a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (geotechnical) at Virginia Tech. Jen completed a M.S. degree in the same department in 1997 and spent the last 6 years working for CH2M HILL in Seattle, WA as a staff engineer. She reports that her husband Alex is providing excellent care and feeding of a Ph.D. student. -March 02, 2005 David J. ColomboShrewsbury resident, David J. Colombo, has opened a new engineering firm, Power Engineers, LLC at 415 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. The firm provides electrical engineering services, including power system design, lighting design, technical studies, and consulting for clients including utilities, municipalities, colleges and industrial / commercial facilities throughout New England. Mr. Colombo is a registered Professional Engineer, and he received a B.S. in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Masters of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. -February 17, 2005 Valerie MasonWas promoted in January to Operational Excellence leader for US Surgical in North Haven, CT. She oversees all of the Six Sigma projects and coaches and mentors the project leaders. She is also responsible for the continuous improvement efforts through Lean Manufacturing principles. Valerie and her husband Michael enjoy their three sons, Michael 5, Nicholas 4, and Christopher 20 mos. -November 11, 2004 John AdamsI recently accepted the position of Asia Factory Operations Manager in Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division, responsible for the establishment of Product Marketing and Production Integration Engineering organizations in Taiwan, supporting Teradyne's Southeast Asian customers. I will be relocating to Taipei, Taiwan with my wife, Rhonda, and 2 daughters, Jessica (4) and Brooke (1) for a 2 year period. -September 15, 2004 CPT David MannCPT David Mann has recently returned from operations in Iraq. He commanded a detachment of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He will promote to Major on January 17th. He has returned to work as a Firefighter/Paramedic with West Metro Fire Rescue. He has been appointed to the Denver Regional BioTerror Task Force as a trainer. He currently lives in a house in the foothills with his two year old daughter, Devlynn Taylor Mann. -December 17, 2003 Maureen HokeMaureen has returned to O'Brien & Gere Engineers after owning her own consulting firm in Norwich, NY (1998-2000) and working for Keystone Associates, LLC in Binghamton, NY (2000-2003). Not only did he start a new career as a high school science teacher, he got married. On September 29, 2002, he married Cori Marinaccio. His brother Dennis Andrade was best man, and David Boos ('92) and his wife Rebecca were among the guests. David continues his work as a paramedic also. -October 31, 2002 Robert NoceraRob and his wife, Sherri, would like to announce the birth of their second daughter, Cassandra Jayne, on April 13th, 2003. Her sister, Isabella Rose, who turns 2 in November, is as excited as the rest of the family. Rob's IT outsourcing and software development company, NEOS, continues to grow. Sara and Michaela join big brother Daniel, who is now nearly 3. Professionally, Peter was recently named an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). -September 29, 2006 Rhonda (Ring) MarksRhonda (Ring) Marks and Philip Marks (both class of 93) are proud to announce the birth of their third child, Harry Philip Marks, in November, 2004. His sisters, Caroline and Charlotte are quite excited with their brother! The Marks family currently resides in Chester Springs, PA. Phil is Manager of U.S. Product Development at Federal-Mogul Systems Protection Group, and Rhonda works from home as a web consultant. -August 28, 2006 Peter CavalloPeter Cavallo recently completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with Drexel University. His work in adaptive refinement methods for computational fluid dynamics was presented at the past three Aerospace Sciences Meetings, and has appeared in AIAA Journal and the Journal of Aerospace Computing, Information, and Communication. He continues in his position as Senior Scientist for Combustion Research and Flow Technology of Pipersville, Pennsylvania, a small DoD/NASA contractor. -June 02, 2006 Matt BoutellAfter completing his Ph.D., Matt Boutell '93 enjoyed his return to teaching as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Matt, his wife, Leah, and their four children live in Terre Haute, Indiana. -May 26, 2006 Mr. Tracy CoifmanTracy Coifman (93) and wife, Agnes Rios, are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Andrea Paola, May 1, 2006. Her twin brothers Diego and Myles are now big brothers (Approaching 2 & 1/2 years). The love bond was immediate! No time for work was wasted for me as I started back at work after seven weeks, and my constant global travel at nine weeks. I was then promoted to Senior Director, Intellectual Property Strategy and Litigation at InterDigital Communications Corporation, King of Prussia, PA. We reside in West Chester, PA, where my husband also practices law. We are looking forward to the birth of our second child in July 2006. -February 25, 2006 Elizabeth StewartMy retail business is doing quite well - in fact, we expanded into a new location in September 2005. Building upon that business and on her interest in beading, she recently opened Lush Beads, a full-service beading supply store located in Lowell, MA. Beth currently works for Langan Engineering and Environmental Services as a senior staff engineer. Terra currently is an assistant director of Residence Life at Syracuse University and is also working part-time on her PhD in Higher Education Administrtion. In attendance at the ceremony were Gregory's WPI roommates John Boska '93 and Scott Burbank '93, as well as close friends Stefan Kotsonis '94 and Vasilis Hadjieleftheriadis '95. Laura is a chemistry teacher and Gregory is joint managing director of "E.G. Batson III officiated. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Clay Hill Farm, Ogunquit. The bride wore a sleeveless, ivory Mikado, A-line gown with an empire waistline detailed with beading in a diamond pattern at the front and back center of the bodice. Her elbow length veil of tulle was trimmed with satin. For her bouquet she carried white hydrangeas set with fuchsia spray roses. Maid of honor was aunt of the bride, Marilyn E. Bullock of Somerville, Massachusetts. Attending bridesmaids were nieces of the bride, Kayla Bullock and Sarah Bullock, both of Billerica, Mass. They wore Alfred Angelo gowns in navy for the maid of honor and summer blue for the bridesmaids. They carried stargazer lilies, magenta spray roses, and white bouvardia. Brother of the groom, Donald Michaud of Westbrook, stood as best man. Ushers included friends of the groom, James Turgeon and Diehl Estes, both of Westbrook. Daughters of the groom, Stephanie and Caitlin Michaud of Buxton, were the flower girls. The bride is an administrative assistant of finance for R.W. Gillespie and Associates Inc., in Saco, Maine. He is married to Kaya Brown and has two children, Sydney (3 years) and Frank IV (3 weeks). He is currently moving back to the States to get his Masters Degree in Engineering Management and then to be assigned to his next duty station. He was the Civil Engineer for the 84th Engineer Battalion, designing and conducting all QA for the Battalion and US Army Pacific. '03) deployed to the middle east indefintely and preparing for contingencies with Iraq. I am deployed from Spangdahlem AB, Germany, with the 22nd Fighter Squadron. I'm flying the Block 50 F-16 Viper, optimized for the "wild weasel" mission. Our primary mission involves "Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses" (SEAD). Its our job to find enemy Surface to Air Missile sites and launch a "High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile" (HARM) at them before they can launch a missile at a coalition aircraft; and to decoy the radar operators while our strikers put bombs on target. We are supporting the enforcement of the Southern No Fly Zone while awaiting further taskings.
