WPI ODIME Sub-brand with full WPI seal

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education (ODIME) is excited to present the Outstanding Women Student Awards (https://www.wpi.edu/library/archives-special-collections/history/awards/outstanding-women-student-awards)! Each year, ODIME honors students who identify as women in their first-year, sophomore, and junior year. The awards recognize excellence in academic performance, participation in co-curricular activities, community service, and work experience:

  • Marietta E. Anderson Award - Established by Arvid E. Anderson '20 in memory of his wife, this award is presented to the most outstanding first-year, sophomore, or junior woman student who not only has a superior academic record, but also has been a work-study student, a volunteer for college-sponsored activities, and participated in recognized extracurricular activities.
  • Gertrude R. Rugg Award - This award, honoring WPI's late Registrar, is given to one or more outstanding first-year women students preparing for a career in engineering and science who have played a significant role at WPI.
  • Ellen Knott Award - This award, honoring a long-time secretary in the Mechanical Engineering Department, is given to one or more outstanding sophomore women students preparing for a career in engineering and science who have played a significant role at WPI.
  • Bonnie-Blanche Schoonover Award - This award, honoring WPI's former librarian, is given to one or more outstanding junior women students preparing for a career in engineering and science who have played a significant role at WPI.

If you are interested in applying for one or multiple of these awards, please complete the application form (bit.ly/ApplyOWSA) and upload an unofficial copy of your academic transcript and either a personal essay or video by 11:55 PM EST on Sunday, February 11, 2024. All of the applications received will be reviewed by a selection committee. The winners will be honored at the Student Recognition Awards Ceremony in April.

Please email Lauren Feldman (she/they) at diversity@wpi.edu with any questions or accommodations.

Good luck to all of the applicants!
