The Global School

Do you know an outstanding student who is committed to social change, public leadership, and community engagement?  Consider nominating them (or yourself) for the Newman Civic Fellowship.

The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who are changemakers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. The program seeks community-involved student leaders who:

  1. Go beyond direct service to seek long-term solutions for social issues,
  2. Inspire and engage others, and
  3. Demonstrate the motivation and potential for effective and long-term civic engagement.

The Worcester Community Project Center, Global School, STEM Education Center, and the WPI Office of Government & Community Relations are accepting nominations!  As each Campus Compact member institution can only nominate one candidate, we will evaluate applications and advance a single nomination from WPI.

NOMINATE A STUDENT: Faculty, staff, and students that wish to nominate a student can submit a nomination here and include a brief statement explaining the nominee’s commitment to changemaking, civic engagement, community organizing, community-based research, social entrepreneurism, or other efforts to build the capacity of community-based organization.  Ideally, candidates will have one more year left at WPI after completion of the fellowship during the 2022-23 academic year. Deadline for nominations is December 17, 2021.

APPLY FOR THE FELLOWSHIP: Students that wish to apply for the Newman Civic Fellowship can do so here. Deadline for student applications is January 7, 2022.
