Compliments of the WPI Student Alumni Society and the WPI Alumni Association
When the Tech Bible was first published in 1897, it served as a student handbook for freshmen. Along with WPI history and rules for the freshmen, it offered details about life on campus and in the Worcester community. The Tech Bible served this invaluable purpose for seventy years.
The bible's use was diminished once the Student Handbook and the Freshman Orientation program were introduced in the 1970s. In the '80s, the Student Alumni Society (SAS) and some other organizations tried to revive the Tech Bible tradition, publishing sporadically, but in the early '90s, SAS issued it with a new purpose: to include not only WPI history, but its traditions, and the growth and flourishing of the institution. The most recent edition was published in 2003.
In 2005 students involved in SAS have revised it still. It is their hope that it may serve as a primer for all students about WPI's heritage, filling its readers with a sense of pride and renewed knowledge of the unique and rich history of WPI.
