Gateway Park and the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center

Gateway Park is an 11-acre mixed-use, life sciences-based campus adjacent to downtown Worcester that WPI is developing with the Worcester Business Development Corporation. The first building to be completed at Gateway Park, the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center, will serve as the focal point for graduate education and research in the life sciences and related engineering fields at WPI.

The Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center consists of two connected structures at 60-68 Prescott Street. The first is a new laboratory building that hosts advanced research in such areas as regenerative medicine, molecular nanotechnology and biosensors, plant systems, tissue engineering, and untethered healthcare. The second is a renovated industrial building that provides space for faculty and administrative offices, meeting rooms, and other amenities.

Most of the center is occupied by WPI; the remainder is being leased to businesses and commercial entities. WPI tenants include faculty researchers from four academic departments, the WPI Bioengineering Institute, and the WPI Division of Corporate and Professional Education.
