More than 95% of the US transportation infrastructure is paved with HMA. RAP is a necessity to save aggregates and reduce the use of binder. The production temperature limits the amount of recycled HMA. WMA technology provides the option of recycling at a lower than conventional temperature, therefore recycling a higher RAP percentage, saving energy and reducing emissions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Sasobit(R) and zeolite on the rutting, cracking and moisture susceptibility of HMA containing 100% RAP. Contact angle analysis showed no significant difference between asphalt binders. Density, dynamic modulus, indirect tensile strength, and contact angle results indicate better performance of recycled HMA with WMA additives compared to conventional recycled HMA.
