Professor Billiar Elected Fellow of ASME
Professor Kristen Billiar is elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) and appointed Associate Editor ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
Professor Kristen Billiar was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME). Additionally, Dr. Billiar was recently appointed as an Associate Editor for the ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering. With over 120,000 members in more than 150 countries worldwide, the vision of ASME is to be the premier organization for promoting the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences to the diverse communities throughout the world. ASME strives to promote and enhance the technical competency and professional well-being of its members, and through quality programs and activities in mechanical engineering, better enable its practitioners to contribute to the well-being of humankind. Dr. Billiar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at WPI, and a Former Fullbright Fellow. He is the Director of the Tissue Mechanics and Mechanobiology Laboratory which focuses on harnessing the mechanical properties of tissues and how cells respond to their mechanical environment for the development of functional engineered tissues.
