2012 ECE Provost MQP Competition Finalist!
Six Group Projects Competed, but One Student Won First Place!
ECE 2012 MQP Results!
The students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) have long been preparing for the day in which they would present their Major Qualifying Project (MQP) to a large audience.
An MQP is a high-level design or research project in the student’s major field of study. This project should focus on the synthesis of all previous study to solve problems or perform tasks in the major field with effective results. The students also need to present with confidence and clear communication.
A total of thirty three MQP projects presented in the Atwater Kent building on the WPI campus on April 19, 2012 for Project Presentation Day. Out of the thirty three MQP’s, the ECE faculty nominated the top MQP projects to compete for Provost MQP Competition. Professor Emanuel, Professor Pedersen, Professor Bitar and Professor Wyglinski were the four ECE judges who reviewed all the submissions and chose the top six exceptional MQP’s for the semi-finalist phase. The Provost MQP Competition is based on the strength of both the MQP team’s oral presentation and written reports. The Provost MQP Competition took place on April 23, 2012, but this year’s winner was not a team of students, but rather one individual student.
The top six teams received a certificate of award at the 2012 ECE Senior Banquet, which was held on April 26th at Maxwell Silverman’s in Worcester.
On behalf of the ECE Department and the judging panel, we would like to thank all the students for their hard work and wish you the very best in the completion of your undergraduate studies and your future plans.
