In July 2021, Dr. Tiffiny Butler announced she would be leaving WPI to pursue a new career opportunity at Rutgers University. Although this is sad news for the WPI community, we all wish Dr. Butler the very best as she embarks on her new journey at Rutgers University as the Senior Director of Educational Equity. This new role will allow her to be closer to family and loved ones while continuing her tireless efforts and commitment towards advancing equity and inclusion in higher education.

Effective August 1st, Arnold Lane, Jr. has been named the Interim Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Arnold joined the OMA team in the fall of 2020, and has worked with partners across campus creating new programs and services in support of WPI’s diverse student populations. Aligned with a creative vision as well as a passion for equity and inclusion, Arnold uses a student-centered approach to his advocacy in support of underrepresented student populations at WPI.

“I came to WPI following the aftermath of the racial unrest occurring in the United States in 2020. I am excited to continue the important work and thoughtful conversations I began last year, while also positioning the OMA to create new educational strategies to promote a community of inclusion at WPI.”

Arnold received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Haven (West Haven, CT). He received his Master of Education degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Springfield College (Springfield, MA). He also completed a Master of Business Administration degree from Winston-Salem State University (Winston-Salem, NC).
