Need Based Scholarships

Helping Remove Barriers to a College Education

Along with financial aid that is awarded on the basis of high school academic performance, assistance predicated on a student’s financial need is also available.

Students apply for all need-based financial aid by filing the FAFSA and the CSS PROFILE Application. All need-based financial aid is awarded through the Office of Financial Aid.

A financial aid package based on need can consist of grant or scholarship money, loans, or Federal Work-Study funds, or any combination.

The formula determining need involves comparing cost of attendance (including tuition, room and board, fees, personal expenses and books) to the expected family contribution (EFC). If the family contribution is less than the cost of attendance, the applicant may be eligible for a financial aid package that attempts to meet the financial need of the family.

Total assistance received from all sources (including non-WPI funds and student and/or alternative loans) cannot exceed WPI's current cost of attendance.
