Applied Mathematics
WPI’s Applied Mathematics Master of Science program gives students a solid background in mathematical applications most in demand in today: numerical methods and scientific computation, mathematical modeling, discrete mathematics, mathematical materials science, optimization, and operations research. Students are also encouraged to complement their studies in applied mathematics and expand their knowledge base of today’s industries through elective courses, such as computer science, and mechanical and electrical engineering.
This MS program prepares graduates for both a career in industry, as well as for a PhD program in applied mathematics or a related field. Students who graduated from this program have continued as PhD students at Courant Institute, NYU, University of Colorado, North Carolina State University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburg, WPI, and more. Graduates have gone on to careers in industry business with prestigious companies such as Alphatech, Mathworks, Microsoft, National Security Agency, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon, as well as government agencies.
