Content Guidelines & Best Practices
The WPI website embraces a writing style that engages our readers in a conversation. We want to speak directly to them, answer their questions, and give them information as concisely and clearly as possible. We do not want to bog them down with text.
When visitors come to a WPI web page, the content should…
- encourage them to take action (apply, register, contact, etc.),
- help them learn about opportunities here,
- help them discover more about us,
- exceed their expectations, and
- extend the WPI brand.
In order to convey a clear and consistent message, it is critical that all pages within the WPI website adhere to the university’s official visual identifiers (logos) and the WPI Web & Editorial Style Guide.
Have Content Questions?
From website migrations to content strategy to site architecture, our team can collaborate or guide you to launch--and maintain--a site that meets your goals and serves your audiences. As a reminder, each department, office, or program is responsible for developing their own content and maintaining its accuracy and relevancy regardless of any initial involvement by Marketing & Communications.
For routine updates and corrections to web content, or more technical issues, please email cmshelp@wpi.edu. Also, we have a number of resources, tips, and suggestions available online that might address your needs and concerns.
