Chemical Engineering
The work of chemical engineers helps solve some of the biggest problems of our time. In small, focused research groups, students and faculty within WPI’s Chemical Engineering Department go beyond the classroom, continuing to make discoveries in areas like environmental protection, renewable energy, and life sciences, through research and development of new technologies, processes, and materials. Our world-class facilities and labs, such as the Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center (LSBC) and the Alden Center in Goddard Hall, are ideal places to conduct this cutting-edge discovery.
The Quest for Clean Energy
James H. Manning Professor Yi Hua Ma’s lab is working with palladium membrane reactors to produce extra-pure hydrogen as a source of energy, with the potential to reduce energy dependence on oil.
Students in the Chemical Engineering Department are welcomed into a family-like atmosphere. The warm, caring vibe of the department is evident as you work with a small, close-knit group of faculty and staff. Learn more about the great chemistry in our department...
