Security & Fire Safety Reports

This federally-mandated annual report of campus security and personal safety, including crime in and around campus as well as fire safety, is published by October 1 each year in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act.

It includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by WPI; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also includes various Campus Security Policies, Fire Safety and Statistics within Residence Halls, Emergency Preparedness/Evacuation and Missing Persons with the confidential contact form link.

Daily Crime Log

In compliance with the The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, codified at 20 U.S.C. ยง 1092(f) with implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. 668.46 the WPI Police Department maintains, and makes available, a Daily Crime Log, which records all criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents reported to WPI Campus Police. New incidents will be recorded not more than two business days after they are first reported, and generally changes to, or dispositions of, existing incidents will be updated not more than two business days after they are changed or closed.

NOTE:  The Daily Crime Log contains only those criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents reported to WPI Campus Police which have occurred upon lands or structures of any property or roadway owned, used or occupied by WPI and its identified boundaries (see the geographical campus map located at http://maps.wpi.edu ).

Maintenance

The WPI Police Department reserves the right to exclude criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents if the disclosure:

  • Is prohibited by law
  • Would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim

The WPI Police Department reserves the right to temporarily withhold information of criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents if the disclosure would:

  • Jeopardize an ongoing investigation
  • Jeopardize the safety of an individual
  • Cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • Result in the destruction of evidence

Availability

  • Viewable at the WPI Police Department, Monday through Friday other than Massachusetts and Federal holidays, 0800 - 1600
  • Available upon request for incidents that occurred in the last 60 days
  • Available within two business days for incidents older than 60 days
