Applied Statistics

WPI’s Applied Statistics Master of Science program gives graduates the knowledge and experience to tackle problems of statistical design, analysis and control likely to be encountered in business, industry or academia. Students are exposed to the diverse areas of statistics; they are challenged with the theory underlying modern statistical methods and given practical experience applying statistical theory to real-world problems.

This MS program prepares graduates for both a career in industry, as well as for a PhD program in applied mathematics or a related field. Students who graduated from this program have continued as PhD students at Harvard School of Public Health, University of Connecticut, University of Colorado, University of North Carolina, WPI, and more. Graduates have gone on to careers in industry business with prestigious companies, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Genetic Institute, Harvard Pilgrim Insurance, MCI, Parexel International, Read-Rite Corporation, Weather Services International, as well as government agencies.
