Speaker: Bill Martin, WPI

Title: Why do we have so few important quantum algorithms?

Abstract: This will be an introductory talk on the mathematics of simple quantum algorithms. I will start with the linear algebra definition of a qubit and describe a setting where we can perform unitary transformations on our CPU but we can only get information from our CPU using measurements. Once we have the basic definitions, I’ll merely list the algorithms I know and discuss some recent developments. There will be no original results in this talk.
