WPI is taking measures in response to the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Get the latest information.

Summer Programs Update

WPI has been continually working to mitigate the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak on our university community. Our top priority is the health and safety of our faculty, students, staff, and visitors, and WPI is making decisions following the guidance of local, state, national and international  health agencies.  WPI has not changed any summer programs as of now; we are monitoring the situation and will communicate with registrants as needed.  Please contact pop@wpi.edu or 508-831-4900 with any questions. Although we are working remotely, our department is fully operational and ready to assist you.  WPI’s response page, which includes answers to Frequently Asked Questions, is updated regularly with the latest statements or guidance from the university.

  • Sports Camps & STEM Programs Grades 4-10: Our standard refund policy is that families may withdraw from a program by June 1 for a refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee. Due to COVID-19, we have amended our policy to refund families their full tuition with no cancellation fee.
  • Frontiers: Our standard refund policy is that students may withdraw from the program by June 1 for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. Due to COVID-19, we have amended our policy to refund students their full tuition including their deposit.

Frontiers Application Update

The Office of Pre-Collegiate Outreach Programs at WPI recognizes the impact the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has on student’s ability to successfully complete the 2020 Frontiers application. We have adjusted our application requirements to accommodate for the current environment.  Due to the school district closings, we have made the decision to waive the letter of recommendation and accept unofficial transcripts via their school designated online portal. We understand that obtaining a letter of recommendation and official transcript from a high school may be difficult during this time. We encourage any Frontiers applicants who are having trouble accessing their transcripts to reach out to us via email at pop@wpi.edu to inform us of the situation so that we can work with you individually.

Be inspired. Have fun. Discover at WPI.

Have a student interested in engineering?
How about robotics?
Or maybe music?

Those are just a few examples of WPI’s available pre-collegiate programs. A great opportunity to spark interest and expand knowledge for participants in a wide variety of topics, they’re educational, immersive, hands-on, and most important—fun.

Academic programs are offered for elementary, middle, and high school students both during the school year and over the summer, with topics ranging from introductory STEM courses and robotics and math competitions, to the humanities and arts and sports camps.

WPI’s pre-collegiate programs have helped students explore STEM fields while honing their leadership and collaborative skills, building confidence, and encouraging friendships—all with the common goal of helping students pursue their passions and position themselves for future successes.
