Worcester Polytechnic Institute to Host Ribbon Cutting for CellTech Institute and Discussion with Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President and CEO
WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and media availability to celebrate the launch of CellTech Institute, a workforce development initiative designed to prepare students for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical research. The event will feature remarks and a discussion with Kirk Taylor, MD, the President and CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC).
CellTech Institute led by Robert Dempski, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at WPI, was established through a $730,994 grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to provide secondary and post-secondary students with immersive, hands-on training in mammalian cell culture, drug discovery, lab automation, and advanced omics-based approaches.
