Alison Brackett is the Founder and Principal Engineer for Triangle Fire Consultants (TFC), a fire protection engineering consulting firm serving an extensive client list of industrial, commercial, municipal, and private clients throughout the New England region. She obtained her BS in Aerospace Engineering and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University and prior to founding TFC, Ms. Brackett worked as a wind tunnel test and simulation engineer for Raytheon in the Missile Systems Division. She transitioned to working as a fire protection consultant in 2006 and she currently holds FPE licensure in MA, ME, NH, and VT.
Through her consulting firm and as a Senior Consultant with TÜV SÜD Global Risk, Ms. Brackett is sought after for her expertise on projects involving lithium ion battery storage and use evaluations, ignitable liquid storage and use, passive fire protection management through building compartmentation and careful selection of construction products, and thorough process safety evaluations for a large variety of industrial conditions. Ms. Brackett is also fully engaged in protecting the people in the communities she’s involved in as evidenced by her commitment to strategic building and fire code compliance and by her involvement in municipal fire and emergency services at all levels since 1995.
Believing that exposure to real-life case studies in industry makes us all better engineers, she is grateful for the opportunity to engage in discussions with students on the topic of Conducting Explosion Risk Surveys as part of this guest lecture series.
This lecture is offered as part of FP 575 (Explosion Protection Engineering) taught by Prof. Lorenz Boeck for the Explosion Protection Engineering (XPE) – A new and exciting interdisciplinary MS program by Aerospace, Chemical Civil, Fire Protection, and Mechanical Engineering at WPI.
