Philip Clay serves as WPI’s Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. A seasoned higher education professional, Philip Clay has worked in student affairs for 36 years. Vice President Clay oversees an array of student services and programs designed to support WPI’s 6,900 full and part time undergraduate and graduate students. He is responsible for the leadership of the Student Affairs Division which includes Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics, Rubin Campus Center and Student Activities, Residential and Dining Services, Health Services, Student Development and Counseling, Accessibility Services, Fraternities and Sororities, International Student Life, Career Development Center, Title IX, and the Dean of Students Office. 

As co-chair of WPI’s Emergency Preparedness Team, he coordinates the university’s response to critical incidents and emergent situations. Mr. Clay works in partnership across the university and with academic leadership to ensure an appropriate balance and synergy between academic and student life. 

Prior to joining the WPI community in 1993, Clay worked at SUNY Potsdam and at Binghamton University. Mr. Clay holds a BA from St. Lawrence University a MA from Binghamton University.

WPI Unveils Newest Academic Building and Residence Hall

WPI formally opened the Foisie Innovation Studio and Messenger Residence Hall yesterday in a celebration hosted by President Laurie Leshin and WPI board chair Jack Mollen, with state and local officials including Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs, Matt Beaton ’01; Assistant Secretary of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship for the Commonwealth, Damon Cox; State Senator and former Senate President Harriette Chandler; State Senator Michael Moore; Representative John Mahoney, and others. The ribbon cutting was reported by the Telegram & Gazette.
