Minor in Biology

Minor

Rather than trying to cover the entire field of biology, WPI’s Biology minor has been designed to enable students to survey a few areas of biology or select a specific area of focus. The minor is the perfect complement to many traditional engineering or science majors since biology is a cornerstone for many up and coming careers in areas such as big data, biomechanics, personalized medicine, and systems biology.
Biology

You will work with a minor advisor to select a sequence of six courses that match your interests and goals. You will choose three courses at the introductory and intermediate levels to provide broad foundational knowledge, two laboratory modules, and two advanced-level courses, at least one of which must be at the 4000-level.

Possible areas of focus include:

  • cell and molecular biology of cancer
  • conservation and applied ecology
  • brain and behavioral sciences
  • biology of health and disease

If you are interested in this minor, inquire with the Department of Biology & Biotechnology to find a minor advisor. Once you are ready to declare your minor, you must fill out a Minor Declaration form through the Office of the Registrar and a BBT Minor Requirement Form.
