The Minor in STEM Education-Teaching is primarily for students accepted into the Teacher Preparation Program (TPP). The minor is comprised of the same coursework required for the initial teacher licensure program.

While the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in Massachusetts grants the initial teaching license in the student’s chosen area of focus, the STEM Education Center and TPP confer the WPI minor.

Curriculum

The following courses meet Massachusetts DESE licensure requirements as part the Teacher Preparation Program, while also framing the minor.

  • Psychology Coursework in Education (min 2/3 units)
  • Foundational Education Coursework (min 2/3 units)
  • Student Teaching Practicum Coursework (min 1/3 units)

(Note: The student should select the additional 1/3 units from any of the above categories to complete 2 full units (6/3) of requirements for this minor.
