WPI Admissions STEM Leadership Book Award

Each year the Admissions Office at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) recognizes high school juniors from around the nation who have demonstrated academic excellence and community leadership in STEM. It is our privilege to recognize the recipients of this award as high achieving young leaders who self-identify with one or more of any of the following communities: female-identifying, BIPOC/ALANA, and LGBTQIAPP+. At WPI, we strive each year to enroll a diverse class of leaders. WPI students positively change the world and demonstrate ability to do the same as a high school junior.

Students selected as recipients of the STEM Leadership Book Award should exhibit the following:

  • Strong academic achievement with a focus on coursework in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

  • Commitment to leadership and engagement with their school and community

  • Collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving skills

  • Success in hands-on and/or project-based learning

Recipients will be awarded with a certificate and a copy of The Positive Shift: Mastering Mindset to Improve Happiness, Health, and Longevity, written by Catherine A. Sanderson.
