Summer Renovations at Gordon Library Will Beautify Learning Spaces, Reopen Library Café

Gordon Library’s main (entrance) floor will undergo major renovations this summer that will expand the footprint of the Class of 1970 Café, bring efficient and modern lighting throughout the floor, add student seating, and create a new studio arts classroom. Construction will begin after Commencement and is expected to be completed in fall 2026.

In response to student feedback, the renovations will feature a newly configured Class of 1970 Café offering full food and coffee service and re-establishing a valuable gathering space in the heart of campus.

In addition, a 2,000-square-foot arts classroom will provide modern and well-lit space for teaching studio art courses. Other renovations will include a new “living room” study area with cozy traditional library seating, two new tech suites, three new private “phone booth” rooms for individual use, and a new private nursing room.

Library Services and the IT Service Desk will move to the lower (first) floor during construction and return to the main (entrance) floor in the fall. Library Research and Instruction and ATC Technology for Teaching and Learning services will be relocated to the upper (third) floor before the start of A-Term. The library elevator is back in full service and will be available throughout construction.
